We’re a LAUNCH! The ‘Hollywood In Space’ phase one web site has blasted off on the 6th day of 2015! And from an out of this world party on New Year’s Eve a few nights ago, ‘Hollywood In Space’ host and Hollywood In Spaceaerospace rockstar Mike Paul Hughes greets you and brings in the New Year looking forward to the endless possibilities for us all in 2015!

What/Who is ‘Hollywood In Space’ you ask?!?!?!?!

‘Hollywood In Space’ is a new show launching in 2015 that stars Mike Paul Hughes, Steve Lee and Aline Zimmer, three bonafide rockstars of the aerospace engineering world! Yep, SPACE engineers who literally have worked on the latest, greatest space related missions, including ‘Orion‘ and the Mars Rover missions!

Mike, Steve and Aline use their aerospace engineering knowledge and expertise to analyze “if/how” the amazing Hollywood movie Sci-Fi spacecraft and tech might, (Or might not), work in the real-world now or, in future! ‘Hollywood In Space’ is directed by Robin Berg, Executive Produced by Gregory Markel w/Technical Direction by Kevin Ryniker.

Aerospace rock star engineer and former punk rock bassist Mike Paul Hughes brings tremendous personality, savvy, curiosity and expert insight to the series HOLLYWOOD IN SPACE.

For the past two decades Mike has worked in the area of Guidance, Navigation and Control systems for spacecraft and entry systems. He received NASA’s Exceptional Achievement Medal for leading the attitude determination and control team for NASA’s comet busting Deep Impact mission in 2005. Mike has worked seven years on the Orion Multi Purpose Crew Vehicle team where he served as the Entry Descent and Landing System Phase Lead and GN&C Systems Lead and recently was honored with the NASA Spaceflight awareness award. He has worked on robotic missions to Mars, Jupiter, Europa, comets and asteroids, as well as serving in mission control for Space Shuttle Discovery. His engineering background spans the entry system disciplines, including aerodynamics, parachute dynamics, pyrotechnics, mechanisms, loads analysis. He has background in classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum Mike Paul Hughesmechanics, general relativity, astrophysics, and astronomy. Mike has published numerous papers on spacecraft controls, attitude determination, and aerodynamic decelerators. He is current senior member with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, (AIAA) and the American Astronautical Society (AAS). Mike is a Pennsylvania State University Scholar, receiving his BS with honors and distinction in Aerospace Engineering, and his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He is currently manager of Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineering for Space Exploration Programs at Lockheed Martin in Colorado.
Additionally, Mike, is now in his spare time when not solving the problems of space travel, a songwriter, composer and producer for his band “Stone Soup Soldiers” http://www.stonesoupsoldiers.com/, who record music for TV shows and Indie film. Mike is a self-made man who chose to pursue the dream of being an aerospace engineer at 22 and is a tremendous role model for the viewers, fans, teens and children who watch ‘Hollywood In Space.’

Steve is a nationally recognized engineer and personality due to his long involvement in the Mars Program. He has been featured on several national television shows, including the hit NOVA special, Ultimate Mars Challenge. In addition to being a navigation expert and a radar systems expert, Steve is a passionate teacher and communicator. He has held technical and leadership positions on the USA’s highest profile missions including: Curiosity Rover, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Hubble Space Telescope (Shuttle servicing mission 3A, STS-103), and Terra Mission to Planet Earth. Steve holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.

Dr. Zimmer has both bases covered. She has a lifelong interest in science fiction combined with an outstanding scientific education. She received an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Dr. Aline ZimmerInstitute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. She now works for the Project Systems Engineering and Fomulation Section of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Dr. Zimmer is an expert in orbital mechanics and spacecraft systems, applied to deep-space human spaceflight and robotic exploration.
